Prior Authorization Assistanceimage

Prior Authorization Support in Aston, PA

When your doctor prescribes a specific medication or medical equipment, the last thing you need is a delay from your insurance company. The prior authorization process can be confusing and time consuming, creating a barrier to the care you need. At Aston Pharmacy, we help manage this process so you can focus on your health.

Simplifying the Insurance Process for You

  • Coordination with Your Doctor: We do inform your doctor's office that a Prior Auth is required and help them understand if there are other options, such as a therapeutic change, that would avoid the need for a Prior Auth.
  • Direct Insurance Communication: We will call the Insurance to get a status update if the claim continues to reject after we have been informed of an approval by the provider, patient or insurance company.
  • Consistent Follow Up: We let you know the office has been contacted and what the next steps are, such as when to follow up with the doctor to ensure the PA has been submitted.
  • Problem Solving: If a request faces challenges or is denied, we help you and your doctor understand the reasons and explore the next steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve gathered answers to the most common questions to help you understand our services and make the most of your experience with us.

We are able to provide prior authorization assistance for patients covered by all insurance plans except TRICARE.

PA is a requirement from your health insurance provider to obtain approval for a specific medication, service, or piece of medical equipment before they will agree to cover its cost. It is a way for the insurance company to verify that the treatment is medically necessary.

While many prescriptions can be filled without issue, prior authorizations are more common for specialty services. This can include our custom compounded medications, certain Durable Medical Equipment (DME), and some brand-name drugs that may have generic alternatives.

The timeline for a prior authorization decision can vary significantly depending on the insurance company and the complexity of the request. Our team works to submit all required information promptly and follows up consistently to help prevent unnecessary delays.
